Vinyasa Flow is a style of yoga that prioritises dynamic, continuous movement*
Vinyasa Flow Yoga Classes are usually faster in pace than other types of Yoga Classes. In a Vinyasa Flow Yoga Class, there is a specific emphasis on the breath. The breath should be audible (you should be able to hear it). The deeper the breath, the more audible it is, and the more you can use it as a tool, to help you focus your body and mind throughout the yoga class.
Vinyasa Flow can improve cardiovascular health due to its faster pace and continuous nature. It can enhance strength and flexibility over time, due to the continuous transitions between each yoga posture, and the time spent in each yoga posture.
There are many more benefits of regular Vinyasa Flow Yoga Classes, including improved circulation and blood flow, helping the body to eliminate toxins, reduce stress and anxiety and promote emotional resilience.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga Classes always include multiple Sun Salutations. Sun Salutations are a series of backbends, forward bends and inversions that are linked together by the breath. The repetition of Sun Salutations builds heat in the body, which leads to increased strength, stability and flexibility. More on Sun Salutations in the next blog post.
If you want to experience the benefits of a consistent Vinyasa Flow Yoga Practice, book a Vinyasa Flow class.
*Although you can expect a continuous flow of movement throughout a Vinyasa Flow Yoga Class, your teacher will most likely include short rest poses into the Vinyasa Yoga Class sequence.
